The commitments that stopped the strike in Cambrils remain unfulfilled, which sends the municipal staff back on strike on June 5.

The staff of the Cambrils City Council will return to strike on June 5, 2026, after the Personnel Board, the Works Committee, and the union sections of CSIF, CCOO, and UGT agreed to resume mobilizations in an extraordinary meeting held on May 8.

The conflict arrives half a year after the calling off of the December 2025 strike. The workers' representatives maintain that the commitments made then by the municipal government remain unfulfilled and that, after the May 5 mediation, there is also no prospect of compliance in the short or medium term.

May 5 Mediation Certified That 2025 Agreements Remain Pending

CSIF framed the new call within the breach of the agreements that allowed the protest of last December to be suspended. The union stated that the decision was adopted after verifying that these commitments continue to be unfulfilled.

During the mediation meeting held on May 5 at the Territorial Delegation of the Department of Business and Labor, it was recorded that the agreements reached at the end of 2025 had not been executed. The employee representatives added that they also do not see a near-term solution to that deadlock.

The call will affect the Cambrils town hall and also its trusts and autonomous bodies. The only exception will be the Local Police, as their right to strike is limited by their legal and statutory regime.

The staff will have two assemblies on May 14 and the unions are preparing the judicial route

Before the strike, the representative bodies have summoned the workers to an informative day on Thursday, May 14. At 1 p.m. a general assembly is scheduled for all municipal staff and for the personnel of the autonomous bodies.

One hour later there will be a specific meeting for the Local Police. Although this group is not part of the strike in the same terms as the rest of the municipal staff, the organizers have planned their own session within the same calendar.

In parallel, the unions announce a response in the courts. The workers' representatives attribute to the municipal administration flagrant breaches of previous agreements and are preparing the legal proceedings to demand their execution.

In addition to the call for June 5, 2026, the roadmap approved on May 8 includes the start in the coming days of legal actions to claim compliance with the agreements and defend the working conditions of the municipal staff.
