Five companies compete to be awarded the contract to supply and install the necessary safety fences during the second stage of the Tour de France in Tarragona. The City Council has received offers from Touring & Sport SL, Midnight Logistics SL, Alquiler y Venta de Vallas Arte SL, Romian Producciones SL, and Transvallas Zamora SL for a service valued at 110,000 euros including VAT.
The cycling race will arrive in the city on July 5, 2026. The neutralized start will cover approximately six kilometers through the urban area before heading towards Barcelona. The route will pass through emblematic points such as Rambla Nova, plaça Imperial Tàrraco, the Balcó del Mediterrani, and the surroundings of the Amfiteatre.
The tender requires 4,200 metal fences
The technical specifications detail the need to place 4,200 metal fences of two meters in length each. This quantity adds up to a total of 8,400 linear meters of fencing to delimit the start area, channel spectators, and guarantee the safety of the neutralized route.
The installation will take place the night before the race. The device must be fully operational and closed to traffic by six in the morning on the day of the competition. Once the peloton starts, the removal of the material will begin, an operation that must conclude within the same day.
The circuit will be closed at six in the morning.
The asphalting is processed as a matter of urgency
In parallel with the tender for the barriers, the city council is addressing the condition of the road surface on the streets where the race will pass. The ordinary procedure for paving these roads was left vacant, which forces a change in the contracting strategy.
The local executive will promote an urgent procedure for this item. The administration will request three direct quotes for an amount less than 40,000 euros excluding VAT. The road improvement works will have the operational collaboration of the Municipal Brigade.
The asphalt repair works are scheduled to be carried out entirely during the month of June. This planning seeks to ensure that the pavement is in optimal condition before the arrival of professional cyclists and the final logistical deployment.
