The unions CCOO, CSIF and CGT have started this Friday, April 24, mobilizations at the Reus City Council to denounce the blocking of labor negotiation and demand a meeting with the mayor, Sandra Guaita.
The protest comes with the city council's labor agreement expired for a year, a situation that affects 862 municipal workers and that rises to 1,100 employees if personnel from autonomous bodies are included.
The unions denounce the lack of negotiation
The trade union organizations maintain that there is no dialogue with the municipal government. Lorenzo San Polo, trade union delegate of CSIF, has expressed it bluntly.
"There is no negotiation between the City Council and the workers" - Lorenzo San Polo, union delegate of CSIF
In the same vein, Rafa Julbe, from Comisiones Obreras, has spoken out, denouncing the paralysis of the working spaces planned to address the new agreement.
"We have been more than two months with commissions canceled, nobody wants to sit down to negotiate" - Rafa Julbe, Comisiones Obreras
They demand to apply the job valuation approved in 2022
Among the complaints raised by the unions also figures the lack of execution of the job evaluation approved in 2022. The unions consider that commitment remains pending and place it as one of the focuses of the open conflict with the City Council.
Jaume Margalló, from the CGT, has also charged against the management of the Human Resources councilor, Manel Muñoz, whom he accuses of failing to comply with the current labor framework.
"Does not respect the agreement, skips it when he wants and resolves it by decree" - Jaume Margalló, CGT
Request for meeting with the mayor
The mobilizations start with the demand to open a real negotiation and with a concrete request to the local government. CCOO, CSIF and CGT request an audience with the mayor of Reus to unblock a conflict that affects more than a thousand public employees in the municipal sphere.
The union pulse thus remains open in the Reus city council, with the focus placed on the renewal of the agreement and on the fulfillment of the pending agreements regarding the working conditions of the staff.
