40 minutes waiting without information: this is how the chaos on the R4 of Garraf began

The problem is the schedules of the shifts of the engine drivers, who have not presented themselves on time, and as it is circulated on a single track, this makes that the previous meshes do not adapt to the current circulation.

40 minutes waiting without information: this is how the chaos on the R4 of Garraf began

The first delays in Rodalies due to the works on the Garraf tunnel have led to complaints from users and from the Dignitat a les Vies platform, which attributes part of the incidents to the fact that the drivers' schedules have not been adapted in the service reprogramming.

At Sant Vicenç station, during the first day of the works, several passengers have shown their discomfort due to the delays. Among them, Indira, who was heading to El Vendrell with an R4 train and complained about the lack of information. "I've been waiting for more than 40 minutes, they don't give information, it's horrible", the user stated.

The platform targets the shifts of the engineers

Òscar Rovira, member of Dignitat a les Vies, maintains that the origin of the problem lies in the planning of services. "The problem is the schedules of the drivers' shifts, who have not shown up on time, and since traffic is on a single track, this means that previous schedules do not adapt to current traffic", he explained.

According to his account, the situation has not been the same on all routes. Early this Monday morning he took the train diverted through Vilafranca and arrived punctually at Sants. "This train went well, it arrived with zero minutes of delay, therefore, perfect," he stated.

A return with incidents on the R2 South

The return, however, has concentrated a good part of the problems. Rovira assures that the first R2 Sud train arrived an hour late and that the next one was so full that he could not get on. He had to wait for the next one, which passed with a ten-minute delay.

That convoy finished the journey in Cunit because, according to what has been indicated, there was no capacity for more trains at Sant Vicenç station. From there, the travelers had to wait half an hour more to connect with the next R2 and continue to their destination.

"In total, the journey between Sants and Sant Vicenç has been three and a half hours", Rovira summarized, who described that return via the R2 Sud as a complete and absolute disaster.

More route changes and request for precise information

The day did not end there for this spokesperson of the platform. On his next journey, as he explained, he had to take an R4 that would not complete the entire route and would end in Sant Sadurní. From there he would have to continue by bus to Martorell, while a regional train had been able to pass without incidents.

Users' complaints focus on the lack of useful information and the need to better adjust schedules to the reprogrammed service. Indira has asked for specificity regarding frequencies and passing times. "We ask that they be specific; if there are no trains or they have to depart every one or two hours, that they be exact," she claimed.
