Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya has put out to tender a new expansion of the landslide protection system on the Lleida-La Pobla de Segur line, in the Noguera section that runs between the stations of Santa Linya, Àger and Cellers-Llimiana.
The action reinforces several points of the infrastructure with barriers and an alert system on trains to detect rockfalls. The paradox is that the improvement is not limited to a single slope, but is spread across several slopes and two tunnel entrances of the same particularly exposed railway corridor.
FGC will install 360 meters of barrier on slope 4
The contract foresees intervention on slope 4, located between the stations of Santa Linya and Àger, where FGC will place a static barrier of 360 meters divided into three sections.
In addition, the tender includes improvement work on the protection of slope 3 against possible rockfalls, also within the same area of the line between Lleida and La Pobla de Segur.
Slope 17 will incorporate dynamic barriers at two tunnel entrances
Between the stations of Àger and Cellers-Llimiana, the action will reach slope 17 with the installation of 60 meters of dynamic containment barriers at two tunnel entrances.
FGC will also add an alert system with dynamic luminous signaling on trains. The device will warn of a landslide with an illuminated arrow or a disturbance in the meshes with an X-shaped symbol.
The tender is for 205,869 euros before VAT and sets an execution period of 30 weeks from the award of the contract.
