The Paeria de Lleida has required Interpaking Lleidatana SA to review and repair the ticket readers at the entrances to the underground parking lot on Blondel avenue and to verify that the telephone customer service is working properly after several user complaints.
The municipal government has validated giving the concessionaire a period of one month to correct the deficiencies detected in the service. The decree was processed by the city council in the ordinary session of last March.
Complaints about access problems and lack of response
One of the claims received, dated March 9, warned of incidents in both pedestrian access and service systems. The user stated that he could not enter through the main pedestrian door because the reader did not recognize the ticket and that he also received no response either by intercom or on the two indicated telephones.
"I couldn't enter through the main pedestrian door, the reader didn't recognize the ticket, nobody answered the intercom or the two phones listed" - affected user
In that same complaint, the client added that he ended up trying another door and found it open. He then stated that he was charged 17.70 euros and warned of the lack of security that, in his opinion, this situation generates.
"I tried to enter through another door and coincidentally found it open, yes, they charged me 17.70 euros. It offers very little security" - affected user
From the concessions department of the city council, it was warned that this is not an isolated case and it was specified that it is not the first complaint received recently for incidents of this type.
Measures demanded of the concessionaire
The Paeria proposes that the company adopt concrete actions to guarantee access to the parking lot during the time slots when there is no manager or on-site attendant. Among these is reviewing, repairing, or replacing the ticket readers so that the devices correctly read the access passes.
It is also requested to supervise the operation of the telephone service system so that users are attended to immediately. If this is not guaranteed, the city council proposes as an alternative that a night watchman be available.
Warning of possible sanction
The head of the department recalled that, according to the parking concession regime, these facts could fit into a minor infraction. In that case, the penalty provided would be 1% of the fee for each day of the infraction or disobedience.
It is not the first time that the Paeria has requested actions in these facilities. Last summer, it already demanded several repairs from the concessionaire in the Blondel parking lot, including fixing the joints of the access ramps, its pavement, and the filtered water collection system.
Parking Expansion Project
In parallel to these incidents, the mayor of Lleida, Fèlix Larrosa, has indicated that the municipal government is studying the expansion of the Blondel parking lot. The forecast being analyzed would allow its capacity to be increased from the current 450 spaces to 650 spaces.
The review of the service and the eventual growth of the parking lot are now on the table at a time when the city council wants to ensure both the ordinary operation of the accesses and the attention to users of one of the most central underground parking areas in the city.
