Residents of the Els Refugis de les Gavarres development, in Cassà de la Selva, have been without telephone or internet service for more than 30 days. The service interruption originated after strong gusts of wind that knocked down several telephone and fiber optic line poles. The affected parties assure that, after opening multiple incidents with the company and contacting the City Council, the only response received so far is that "there is no news".
They report being "completely cut off in the middle of 2026" in an area frequently frequented by hikers and cyclists.
Impact on daily life
The lack of connection prevents teleworking in some cases and creates difficulties in emergency situations due to the absence of a landline. Residents are demanding urgent action to restore service and have requested clear information on the expected timelines for resolving the incident. The Cassà de la Selva City Council confirmed it is aware of the incidents and has made claims to the companies since the first day. Municipal sources indicated that "we can only pressure and insist, which is what we are doing," given that the companies are responsible for the service and the municipal scope of action is limited.
"The companies do not stop systematically failing to meet their obligations"
The council publicly criticized the operators' management in the face of this prolonged situation. Meanwhile, the local community remains isolated, awaiting a definitive solution that will restore normality to their digital connectivity.
