Two streets in Riells i Viabrea remained more than 35 hours without electricity supply after the strong winds recorded last week, according to the City Council of the municipality.
Lack of response during the emergency
The council maintains that, during the power outage, it received no response on E-Distribución's incident telephone line. The local administration assures that it attempted to contact them on repeated occasions without success, despite the seriousness of the situation. Finally, the intervention of municipal technical services was necessary to establish contact with the company through other channels and resolve the incident.
Breakdown Management and Neighborhood Confusion
In a statement, the City Council details that the company initially reported a breakdown in a transformer that was supposedly repaired, although service was not restored. Thanks to the repeated insistence of the council, a new technical review was carried out and a second broken transformer was detected. The electrical interruption lasted more than 35 hours on two streets in the municipality.
The council states that both residents and the administration received contradictory information and unclear and changing answers from the company. This management, according to the statement, generated confusion and discomfort and a feeling of lack of control and responsibility in the face of an incident they describe as serious.
Claims and demands for improvement
The City Council considers the lack of attention in emergency situations unacceptable and demands a more efficient, agile, and responsible service from E-Distribución. Furthermore, it regrets the lack of investment in the municipality's medium-voltage grid, which makes it difficult to guarantee the continuity and quality of the electricity supply.
The municipal statement points out that the reiteration of breakdowns and the network's vulnerability to adverse weather events show the need for preventive and improvement actions that can no longer be postponed. The city council assures that it will continue defending the rights of the residents and demanding a quality public service from the supplying companies.
