Joan, Josep and Jordi Roca have opened a new establishment in the Barri Vell of Girona. The project is the bar Normal, located in Plaça de l'Oli, right in front of the Normal restaurant they already manage in that same spot in the historic center.
The novelty comes with a paradox sought by the Roca brothers themselves. One of Girona's most recognized gastronomic groups presents the establishment as "a normal bar on a normal corner of a normal city," despite it being integrated into a network of businesses that ranges from Taialà to Sant Julià de Ramis and includes El Celler de Can Roca, with three Michelin stars.
The Normal bar opens five days a week in Plaça de l'Oli
The establishment is open from Wednesday to Sunday between 12:00 and 23:00. The kitchen closes at 22:00 and the establishment does not accept table reservations.
The proposal focuses on a bar format with drinks, appetizers, tapas, and dishes designed for an informal offering. The menu includes gildas, croquettes, pâté, Girona beef steak tartare, Spanish omelet, and french fries with various sauces.
It also includes desserts such as vanilla flan and offerings from Rocambolesc, with ice cream and sorbet from the brand. The opening reinforces the group's presence in the immediate vicinity of Plaça de l'Oli and Plaça del Vi.
The Rocas expand a network in Girona that goes from Barri Vell to Taialà
Beyond this new bar, the Roca brothers manage other businesses spread throughout Girona and its surroundings. In Taialà, they maintain El Celler de Can Roca and Can Roca, while in Vilablareix, they operate the Mas Marroch space.
In Sant Julià de Ramis, they also promote the Esperit Roca hotel and restaurants. To this network are added the wine bar Vii, in Plaça del Vi, two Rocambolesc establishments on Santa Clara and Hortes streets, and Casa Cacao with the Cacao bar in Plaça Catalunya.
In the same area of Plaça de l'Oli, the group already had the Normal restaurant and bar, and now adds this new bar format in front of the pre-existing establishment. El Celler de Can Roca maintains three Michelin stars and celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.
