The Terrassa Municipal Police met on Thursday at the Municipal Auditorium with local police officers and teaching staff in an awareness day focused on detecting bullying among children and adolescents.

The meeting focused on a contradiction that runs through the school year in Catalonia. While prevention insists on the need to detect signs in time and encourage reporting, more than 1,800 cases of school bullying have been detected, up from the 1,706 registered the previous year.

The latest reports point to an increase in aggression in classrooms and also in cyberbullying through mobile phones. The day held in Terrassa addressed both fronts before professionals who work with minors inside and outside educational centers.

During the presentations, participants emphasized the importance of observing behavioral changes, isolation attitudes, and other possible signs of school bullying. Early attention to children and adolescents focused on a large part of the session.

The program also highlighted how bullying evolves when the victim does not communicate what is happening or when their environment does not act. At that point, the day argued that dialogue and active listening are key to detecting the problem and reporting it.

In addition to face-to-face episodes, the interventions warned of the growing weight of harassment through mobile phones, a channel that increases pressure on minors beyond the classroom and sometimes hinders the rapid intervention of teachers and police forces.

The main presentation was given by Eloisa Del Pino, a secondary school teacher at Escola Cingle, who spoke on the topic "When silence makes noise."
