Jon Cake pastry shop has been distinguished with the award for the best Catalan cheesecake at the 18th edition of Làctium, the fair dedicated to artisanal cheese held in Vic. The recognition places Jon Garcia's firm among the most valued proposals of this gastronomic event focused on local dairy products.

The award-winning cake has been made with Garrotxa cheese and buffalo blue from Muntanyola house, a combination with which the jury has awarded the first place to the brand, specialized precisely in this type of dessert. The award is endowed with 1,000 euros.

A contest with 36 participants and 22 finalists

The call established as a condition that each dessert presented incorporated at least 20% of artisanal and Catalan cheese. In this edition, 36 pastry shops and restaurants have competed, and from that total, 22 finalists have been chosen before the final decision.

The jury has been composed of Alexandra Navarro, Enric Monzonís, Adrià Rodón, Eric Ortuño, Arnau Arboix, Alba Llacera and Adrián Ruiz, responsible for evaluating the creations presented within the framework of one of the sector's reference events in Catalonia.

Presence in Barcelona and Girona

Jon Cake currently has five establishments, four of them in Barcelona and one in Girona. In the Catalan capital, it has two premises in Ciutat Vella, in addition to other points of sale in les Corts and in Poblenou, which has consolidated its presence in different neighborhoods of the city.

The chain has also announced its participation in the competition for the best artisanal butter croissant, thus expanding its presence in other competitions of the pastry calendar while now adding this recognition in Vic for its cheesecake.
