The Moventis staff has overwhelmingly backed the pre-agreement reached with management to end a conflict that has marked the management of metropolitan transport in recent years. The workers of this concessionaire, which operates key services in municipalities such as L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, gave their approval during an assembly held on Monday, May 4.

The result of the vote reflects broad consensus after months of tension. 112 votes in favor were registered versus 29 against and only one abstention. This ratification opens the way to judicially formalize the conditions that will govern the labor relationship in the immediate future.

The ruling sets the course for the agreement

The core of the conflict lies in the application of a firm judicial resolution obtained by the employees in February 2026. The courts forced Marfina Bus, integrated into the Moventis group, to restore the labor conditions in effect before January 7, 2025. The company had unilaterally modified working hours and vacations, invoking Article 41 of the Workers' Statute, a maneuver that the justice system declared unjustified.

"We understand that it guarantees the recovery of the conditions we had and for which we have fought for these two years" - Edu Migallón, president of the Moventis works council

Edu Migallón, leader of the union representation, underlines that the current text orders the practical execution of said sentence. For the workers, this step is crucial because it ensures the effective compliance with what was dictated by the judges after a prolonged legal battle.

The irregularities are not limited to the strictly labor sphere. The Directorate of Public Transport Services of the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona fined the company 325,000 euros in September 2025 due to repeated failures on line M12. This sanction is added to a previous one of 85,000 euros for delays on the same route and to subsequent penalties for deficiencies on line M14.

A driver shortage hits service

The climate of instability has caused a bleeding of staff difficult to ignore. More than 130 drivers have left the company amid strikes, mobilizations, and legal complaints, as confirmed by the committee president himself. This massive turnover has directly affected the quality and regularity of the service provided to citizens.

"If people are calm and in optimal conditions, in the end the provision of the service also improves" - Edu Migallón, president of the Moventis works council

The company's legal situation also includes precedents for violation of fundamental rights. In October, Social Court number 16 of Barcelona recognized that the right to strike of three CCOO delegates had been curtailed, which added more pressure on management to seek a negotiated solution.

Now it is time to capture everything agreed upon in a definitive document. The parties must draft the final agreement to present it before the Labor Court of Catalonia, where it will acquire full legal validity. Migallón expressed his confidence that both firms will reach a successful conclusion given the support obtained in the assembly.

The stability of public transport in the metropolitan area now depends on this social truce being consolidated in the offices and, above all, in the depots. Users expect the reduction of sanctions and the recovery of staff to allow them to forget the endless delays of recent months.
