A minor from the Bordeta neighborhood has been two months without attending class after reporting an alleged case of sexual harassment by another student, also a minor, in an educational center in the area. The situation dates back two years, when both were in fourth grade of primary school, although now they are in sixth.
The child recounted the events last February 8. Two days later, his family reported what happened both to the minors unit of the Mossos d'Esquadra and to the school itself. From that moment, the administrative, educational, and protection channels foreseen for this type of case were activated.
Activation of the protocol and separation of the students
The center applied the protocol for the prevention and management of situations of peer violence on February 17. Among the first measures adopted was the separation of the two students involved, with the objective of avoiding contact between both within the school environment.
The family maintains, however, that he has not been offered "an acceptable and safe option" for the minor to be able to return to the classrooms. That disagreement keeps the child out of school for weeks.
Intervention of Barnahus and juvenile prosecutor's office
From the Consorci d"Educació and the Education Inspectorate it has been reported that the case was referred to the Barnahus service and that the facts were also brought to the attention of the juvenile prosecutor's office. The administration assures that it is studying measures to guarantee the right to education of both students involved.
The Education Consortium maintains that the family has decided not to take the child to school, considering the alternatives proposed so far insufficient. It also adds that, until this moment, the family members had rejected the protective and educational measures proposed, alleging the discomfort of the minor and arguing that the other classmate should change educational center.
The case remains under intervention by the competent services while the disagreement over the school solution persists. Awaiting new decisions, the minor continues without returning to class in a conflict that fully affects his schooling and the management of coexistence in the center.
