Barcelona will have before the end of 2026 a new public ultra-fast charging hub for cars on Germans Desvalls street, 2, next to the Vall d"Hebron promenade and exit 4 of the Ronda de Dalt. The new infrastructure, promoted by Endolla Barcelona, will be able to serve 300 vehicles a day and will allow simultaneous charging of up to 12 cars.

The project will be built on an area of almost 900 m² and will start this summer. The municipal forecast is that the works will finish in December of this year, although the facility will become operational before the end of 2026. The action entails an investment of more than two million euros.

A station for passenger cars and last-mile delivery

The new equipment will have 12 simultaneous charging points for passenger cars and last-mile delivery vehicles. The system will allow reaching up to 400 kilometers of autonomy in 15 minutes, with the aim of reducing waiting times at one of the city's main accesses via the Ronda de Dalt.

The electric charging station will be incorporated into the Endolla Barcelona network, which already totals 1,041 charging points distributed throughout the Catalan capital. In that network, an average of 18,000 monthly charges are registered.

Renewable energy and services for drivers

The facility will run on renewable energy and will feature a photovoltaic canopy and a battery storage system to manage the infrastructure's energy. The space will also incorporate rest, work, and shaded areas, as well as Wi-Fi connection, retail points, and adapted restrooms for users during recharging.

The usage system has been designed as simple and intuitive. SMOU users must scan a QR code with their mobile phone and connect the hose to the vehicle. External users will be able to access the service through direct payment with a card reader. The price of each recharge will be set by the market at all times.

The first public electric charging station of this format

"We will put the first electric charging station of Barcelona and the first public one of Spain" - Jaume Collboni, mayor of Barcelona

During the presentation of the project, the mayor defended the new equipment as a strategic piece for electric mobility in the city. It will be the first public electric charging station of this format in Barcelona and one of the main municipal commitments to expand the fast charging capacity on public roads.

"This is the first, but we are convinced that it will not be the last, far from it. It is the first of a new generation of energy" - Jaume Collboni, mayor of Barcelona

The future Vall d"Hebron station will reinforce the municipal network at an intense traffic entry and exit point and will expand the fast charging offer for private and professional drivers. The goal is for it to be operational before the end of 2026, with capacity to absorb a relevant part of the daily demand for electric vehicles in Barcelona.
