The staff of the Cambrils City Council and its autonomous bodies are called to a new day of strike on June 5 due to the lack of fulfillment of the agreements that allowed the December 2025 strike to be called off. The call comes from the Personnel Board, the Works Council, and the union sections of CSIF, CCOO, and UGT.
The conflict adds a contradiction to the labor dispute opened in the town hall. The mediation of May 5 in the Territorial Delegation of the Department of Business and Labor confirmed, according to the workers' representatives, that the commitments agreed upon to stop the previous strike have not been executed and that there is no plan to do so in the short or medium term.
The unions called the strike after a unanimous meeting on May 8
The decision to go on strike was adopted unanimously in an extraordinary meeting held on May 8, as stated in the joint statement issued by the union representatives. The call extends to the entire municipal staff and also to the boards and autonomous bodies.
The only exception is the Local Police, since their right to strike is limited by law. Despite this, the force will have a specific assembly within the calendar set by the workers' representatives.
Before the strike, the unions have scheduled a general information assembly for Thursday, May 14 at 1:00 PM aimed at all municipal employees. One hour later, at 2:00 PM, they will hold another meeting focused on the Local Police.
The mediation of May 5 confirmed that there was no expectation of compliance
The labor dispute worsened after the mediation meeting held on May 5 at the Territorial Delegation of the Department of Business and Labor. At that meeting, it was confirmed, according to the staff representatives, that the agreements related to the cancellation of the December 2025 strike were still not being executed.
The unions affirm that they have been denouncing the situation for months, and even years. In that same statement, they also announce that they will initiate a legal strategy for the alleged breaches by the local administration.
Alongside the call for June 5, the workers' representatives announce that in the coming days they will formalize the legal procedures for the strike. The statement places the immediate origin of the new mobilization in the lack of execution of the agreements revised in the May 5 mediation.
The specific assembly for the Local Police is set for Thursday, May 14 at 2:00 PM, one hour after the general meeting called for the rest of the municipal workers.
