The Mossos d'Esquadra, along with the National Police, the Civil Guard, and the local police forces of Alcanar and Sant Jaume d'Enveja, inspected four food businesses in Montsià and detected labor, sanitary, administrative, and electrical irregularities. The operation reached establishments in La Ràpita, Sant Jaume d'Enveja, and Alcanar, where two premises were inspected.
The action uncovered an accumulation of non-compliance in businesses open to the public, ranging from expired food and poorly preserved frozen goods to irregular connections to the electrical grid. Technicians from the supply company located three illegal hookups and cut off the service at the time.
Officers detected three illegal hookups and will open criminal proceedings
45 people participated in the operation, 34 of whom were police officers. In addition to the Mossos d'Esquadra, personnel from the National Police, the Civil Guard, and the local police forces of Alcanar and Sant Jaume d'Enveja intervened.
The Mossos d'Esquadra will initiate proceedings for alleged crimes of electricity fraud based on the three irregular connections found in the inspected establishments. The electricity company immediately cut off the supply after detecting the tampering.
For their part, the National Police processed two summonses under the Immigration Law, while the Labor Inspectorate requested documentation from two individuals to verify their employment status.
The Civil Guard found expired food and unauthorized vapes
The Civil Guard drew up reports for irregularities in labeling, for possession and sale of expired food, and for sanitary deficiencies in the preservation of frozen products. They also detected data protection infringements related to video surveillance systems.
In addition, officers located unauthorized vapes for sale, an act treated as smuggling. In parallel, the local police forces drew up reports for various offenses related to safety conditions and consumer service.
These deficiencies included the lack of signage prohibiting the sale of alcohol after 10 p.m., problems with fire extinguishers and emergency lights, blocked evacuation doors, absence of complaint forms, and lack of mandatory insurance policy.
The inspections were distributed among a business in La Ràpita, one in Sant Jaume d'Enveja, and two in Alcanar, where half of the premises checked in the operation were concentrated.
