Revolta Pagesa will join the mobilizations of the Catalan education sector scheduled between March 16 and 20, with a first joint day set for Tuesday 17 in several points of the territory.
The agrarian organization has announced its support for the protests of the teaching staff, considering that many of its demands coincide with those that the peasantry has been defending for a long time. Among these coincidences, it places the reduction of administrative bureaucracy, the increase in resources, the improvement of labor conditions, the strengthening of democratic participation mechanisms in decision-making, and the commitment to solid and stable long-term public policies.
Revolta Pagesa has decided to give full support to the teaching staff and to participate in the mobilizations called in different parts of Catalonia during that week.
First joint day on Tuesday, March 17
The first shared mobilization will take place on Tuesday, March 17. In the south, farmers will gather at 8:00 a.m. in La Ràpita and at 9:30 a.m. in L"Aldea to then travel to Tortosa.
In the Camp de Tarragona, the columns will head towards Plaça Imperial Tàrraco in Tarragona. Previous concentrations are scheduled for 7:30 a.m. in Polígon Francolí and Montblanc.
In El Vendrell, the meeting point will be at 7:00 hours in the small square of the schools before the displacement towards Tarragona.
Later in the afternoon, at 6:00 p.m., a concentration is called at the Salfina roundabout, in Palafolls.
Protests also in Girona and Vic
The calendar announced by Revolta Pagesa includes another protest on Thursday, March 19, in Girona, with a concentration at 9.00 hours in the Fontajau area.
On Friday, March 20, a new mobilization is expected in Vic, with departure at 7:00 a.m. on the C 16.
Shared Claims
According to the organization, this alliance between the primary and educational sectors seeks to make visible the need for structural changes in public policies and demand from the Govern long-term responses that guarantee both the viability of agricultural activity and the correct functioning of the educational system.
