The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition has warned of the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in cow's milk fresh cheese of the Goya brand and has requested that it not be consumed if it has already reached homes. The alert affects the product Queso Latino, distributed refrigerated and packaged in plastic.

The incidence introduces an immediate urgency for the consumer because the product was already in the sales channels when the health notification was activated. The communication came from the health authorities of Aragon through the SCIRI system and has already been transferred to the rest of the autonomous communities to withdraw the affected units.

The alert identifies two batches expiring on May 30 and 31, 2026

Specifically, the notice refers to lots 011056 and 021046 of Goya's Queso Latino, in 300-gram format. It is fresh cow's milk cheese preserved under refrigeration.

Health has ordered the withdrawal of the product from distribution channels once the presence of the bacteria was detected. The recommendation for consumers is to check the labeling before consuming any unit of this cheese.

If the product matches any of the affected batches, the AESAN asks not to consume it and to discard it or set it aside immediately to avoid ingestion.

Health advises going to a health center if fever, diarrhea, or vomiting appear

Those who have ingested this cheese and present symptoms compatible with listeriosis should go to a health center. Among the signs included in the alert are fever, diarrhea, and vomiting.

In addition to the recall, health authorities insist on reinforcing food hygiene at home to avoid cross-contamination with other foods or surfaces. The warning places special focus on pregnant women, one of the most sensitive groups to this type of infection.

The affected product corresponds to refrigerated containers of 300 grams with lots 011056 and 021046 and with expiration dates set for May 30 and 31, 2026.
