Girona + Neta calls off the strike: 82% vote in favor after 3 days of indefinite strike

The staff of the company Girona + Neta has ratified the pre-agreement that puts an end to three days of indefinite strike. The workers suspended the stoppage after a favorable vote held this Thursday.

The labor conflict, which affected 212 employees, began at midnight last Monday. Management and the works council reached the agreement after holding a negotiating meeting lasting more than eight hours.

Workers approve the agreement with a majority backing

Of the 169 employees who exercised their right to vote, 138 supported the final proposal. Thirty voters were against it and one cast a blank vote. This distribution represents a backing of 82 percent of the participants in the consultation.

"Patience and collaboration" - Lluc Salellas, mayor of Girona

The mayor of Girona, Lluc Salellas, has celebrated the calling off of the strike. The councilman thanked the citizens for the attitude maintained during these days of service interruption.

Salary improvements and working conditions for the coming years

The agreement establishes an extra salary increase of 1 percent for this year. The raises for 2025 and 2026 will be 2.5 percent and 1.5 percent respectively. These increases are linked to the projected increase for the civil servant collective between 2025 and 2028.

The delays corresponding to the 2025 and 2026 fiscal years will be paid in the May payroll. They may also be paid in the June extra payment or in the June payroll of this year.

The agreed text includes the non-mandatory nature of working on holidays. It also commits to reducing casual employment in the workforce and to negotiate working hours and shifts within a maximum period of six months.

The company's management will not deduct the three days of strike from the workers. This measure avoids economic sanctions for participation in the mobilization that began on Monday.
