The Urban Style group from Tarragona has reported a food poisoning incident that affected 57 members after their annual dinner at the Restaurant Nàutic, held on January 17. The organization activated the protocol with Public Health and inspections confirmed that the origin of the outbreak was spoiled food.
The clash between both parties now focuses on responsibility and the economic response. While the band warns that it will take legal action if the establishment does not provide an immediate solution, the restaurant's ownership maintains that the contaminated product was razor clams and that the insurer's appraisal points to the supplier.
Public Health confirmed that spoiled food originated the outbreak
Several affected people needed medical attention and some were admitted to the hospital after the dinner of the Tarragona carnival group. The activation of the protocol with Public Health opened subsequent inspections into what happened at the establishment.
The association maintains that, with that confirmation of the cause, the Restaurant Nàutic must give an immediate response. Otherwise, the entity has already warned that it will take the case to court.
The restaurant places the focus on razor clams and the supplier
From the property, the manager of Restaurant Nàutic defends that the health inspection only detected that specific product in poor condition. He also assures that the Health report is already in the hands of those affected.
"The first one interested in solving the problem is me" - Manager of Restaurant Nàutic in Tarragona, Restaurant Nàutic
The establishment's version adds that the expert report commissioned by the insurer points to the supplier as responsible for the outbreak. From there, the restaurant maintains that the claim filed so far does not allow for compensation to be activated.
The property links the subsequent conflict to the negotiation between the parties. The head of the business claims to have received alleged pressure and assures that he was told that, if there was no economic agreement, the matter would reach the media.
"It is an attempt to cause harm. For compensation, concrete damages must be proven, and they have not done so. They have presented a generic statement, and with that, the insurance cannot act" - Manager of Restaurant Nàutic de Tarragona, Restaurant Nàutic
The company, for its part, maintains the warning of resorting to legal action if it does not receive an immediate response from the establishment after the outbreak that left affected and hospital admissions after the annual dinner on January 17.
