Repsol workers demonstrated this Thursday, March 26, at one of the entrances to the Tarragona industrial complex to reject the new organizational structure that the company's management wants to implement. The protest was called by the works council, which denounces that the proposed model would entail the elimination of 26 jobs.
Union rejection of the reorganization
The committee maintains that the proposal will entail the suppression of structural employment without there being a real reduction in workload. The staff representatives consider that the change is being proposed at a time of good economic results for the company and criticize that the decisions are being adopted from Madrid without taking into account the opinion of the workers.
The unions assure that the company intends to maintain the same workload, or even increase it, with fewer resources. In that context, they demand that an effective negotiation be opened with the staff and that the impact of the reorganization be addressed from a labor and organizational perspective.
The committee warns of tension in several departments
Jordi Margalef, president of the works council, regretted that positions are being cut in departments that, in his opinion, already work to the limit. He also warned of the possible consequences of reducing resources in an industry of these characteristics.

Margalef insisted that there are very strained areas and with staff already operating at their maximum capacity. For the committee, that situation makes any staff adjustment linked to the new internal organization especially sensitive.
The staff asks for a real negotiation
The mobilization occurs after the company presented the new model a few days ago. The committee demands that a real dialogue be opened and that people be placed at the center, in a scenario where Repsol closed 2025 with 1,899 million euros in profit, 8.1% more than the previous year.
The protest this Thursday visualizes the discomfort from part of the staff in Tarragona in the face of a reorganization that, for the moment, keeps open the labor conflict in the industrial complex.
