The General Directorate of Traffic has activated a shock plan in the demarcation of Lleida with the purpose of reducing the long waiting list for obtaining a driving license. This measure responds directly to the high demand for practical tests that the province has accumulated and which has saturated the operational capacity of the evaluation centers. The device will be implemented during the month of May and seeks to streamline the administrative process while normality is restored in the granting of appointments.

Increase in resources and school days

The plan contemplates a substantial increase in the number of practical tests scheduled in the demarcation. One of the central innovations is the incorporation of itinerant examiners who will travel through different municipalities to decentralize the offer of exams. In addition, evaluation sessions will also be held on Saturdays to take full advantage of the technical staff's working hours. These actions combine the creation of new shifts with overtime for the team of inspectors and the support of specialized mobile teams.

Management of thousands of pending items

According to sector data, there are nearly 5,000 applicants waiting to take the practical test in Lleida. To coordinate this wave of exams, the DGT has asked driving schools to provide an updated list of all students ready to take the evaluation. The administration intends to prioritize those who have been waiting the longest and ensure efficient management of available slots through close coordination with local driving school owners.

Exam balance and success rates

Recent figures show a slight decrease in the pace of controls. During the first quarter of this year, more than 3,200 driving tests were carried out in the district. This volume is lower than that recorded in the same period last year, reflecting the bottleneck that has existed in recent months. Despite the difficulty in accessing an appointment, approximately 50% of applicants manage to pass the practical test. In contrast, the percentage of those who pass the theoretical exams is even lower, indicating a demanding level in all phases of obtaining the license.

The device has the clear goal of reducing waiting times and improving the functioning of the road safety training system in the short term. The authorities are confident that the intensification of resources will allow them to absorb part of the pending stock without affecting the quality of the evaluations. Affected citizens will be able to consult the new calls through the official channels of the DGT and contact their driving schools to adjust their examination dates.
