The Lleida Court sentenced a man to two years in prison for sexually assaulting his partner's daughter in Tremp, after the accused acknowledged the facts in an agreement between the Prosecutor's Office, the private prosecution, and the defense. The court issued an oral sentence and suspended the prison sentence as he had no prior criminal record.

The ruling creates an immediate paradox within the same judicial body. While one case was closed with a conviction and acknowledgment of the facts, the Court had to suspend another trial for sexual abuse of a partner's daughter in Lleida because the victim did not appear.

The convicted man in Tremp avoided jail after admitting to touching in August 2024

The events for which he was convicted occurred in August 2024 at the family home in Tremp. There, the accused touched the victim, who was 19 years old.

The agreement between the parties reduced the Prosecutor's Office's initial request from three to two years in prison. The Court accepted this agreement and agreed to suspend the prison sentence for three years on the condition that the convicted man does not re-offend during that period and completes a sexual education program.

In addition to the main sentence, the ruling maintains a restraining order. The convicted man will not be able to approach within 100 meters of the victim or communicate with her for five years.

The ruling also adds five years of supervised release and seven years of disqualification from any job involving direct contact with minors. This set of measures will remain in effect even though the prison sentence has been suspended.

The Court postponed another trial in Lleida due to the victim's absence

In the same Court, another proceeding for sexual offenses against a partner's daughter was postponed. The trial was suspended due to the victim's non-appearance.

In this second case, the imputed facts allegedly occurred between June 2020 and June 2021 at the family home in Lleida. The prosecution maintains that the accused took advantage of the visits of the minor, then 13 years old and under guardianship, to her mother.

The Prosecutor's Office and the Generalitat's prosecution attribute a continuous offense of sexual assault to the accused. In that proceeding, they are seeking five years and one day in prison and compensation of 6,000 euros for the victim.

The contrast between both matters left two opposite outcomes on the same day in the Audiencia de Lleida, with a sentence issued after the accused's agreement for the Tremp events and the suspension of the trial scheduled for a case that occurred in the capital of Segrià.

In the already sentenced case, the prohibition of working with minors will last for seven years and the restraining order will remain active for five.
