The wind and snow storm in the Lleida Pyrenees has continued this Thursday for the fourth consecutive day, with special incidence in the Val d'Aran and Pallars Sobirà. The episode could leave between 50 centimeters and one meter of new snow above 1,800 meters, while precipitation will continue during the morning on the northern face of the Pyrenees from the 1,200-meter mark.
La Bonaigua, closed due to avalanche risk
One of the most affected points is again the Bonaigua road, where traffic has had to be completely cut off due to the danger of avalanches. The snowfall has again conditioned mobility in this high mountain pass, on a day also marked by wind at high altitudes.
The gusts have exceeded 100 km/h in the high areas of Espot and Boí, which has forced the upper part of both resorts to close again depending on the meteorological evolution. In Port Ainé, disruptions have also been registered due to snow accumulation.
The snow will continue during the morning
The forecast maintains snow on the north face of the Pyrenees during a good part of the morning, with a snow level located around 1,200 meters. The episode continues concentrating the greatest intensity in the Lleida Pyrenees, where the wind and snow make both circulation and activity in the ski domains difficult.
Weather change facing Friday
After several days of instability, the forecast points to a change starting on Friday. A more stable situation with sun dominance is expected, after a week marked by the storm in the high mountains. The Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya also foresees that the final stretch of the Easter holidays could arrive with temperatures of up to 25 degrees, in a notable contrast to the fully winter atmosphere of these last days in the Lleida Pyrenees.
