Banyoles will have a new boutique hotel facing the lake on the site of the former Hotel Mirallac, at the confluence of Passeig Francesc Darder with Passeig Winthuysen. The developer, the Sánchez-Acedo family, plans to start construction in September and open the establishment in 2028.
The project proposes to build a tourist facility with 40 rooms in one of the most visible points in the lake's surroundings, but with a clear premise of visual integration. Both the developer and the design team insist that the building should frame the landscape and not compete with it.
The building will have 40 rooms and 30 will overlook the lake
The hotel will have 40 rooms, of which 30 will have lake views, and all will have a terrace. The offering will also include two suites of 48 square meters with a terrace and private pool.
Vicky Sánchez, project director, explained that the intention is to transfer the relationship with the environment to the building. The developer plans to open the hotel in 2028 after starting construction in September, with a proposal oriented towards boutique-style accommodation.
"We want to give and reflect that peace and serenity that the lake brings to all of us and place it in the hotel where the entire concept of architecture and interior design seeks to frame and not compete with the lake" - Vicky Sánchez, project director
Daniel Isern signs the architectural project from the Isern Associats studio. The interior design will be developed by El Equipo Creativo and the technical management of the work will fall to the Girona-based company Edetco.
The architect also placed the lake as the central element of the intervention. The building will be constructed with travertine stone, wood, glass, and copper, and the entrance will incorporate a small pond with aquatic vegetation.
"We want people walking by the lake to keep looking at the lake and not the hotel" - Daniel Isern, director of Isern Associats
The work foresees between 50 and 70 jobs and adds a swimming pool, spa, and rooftop
The construction will generate between 50 and 70 jobs. The structure will have two independent volumes, slightly inclined and connected by wooden and glass walkways, with a ground floor and two upper floors.
The establishment will incorporate facilities designed for sports tourism. The project includes a regulation 25-meter swimming pool, as well as an area to store about 40 bicycles with a mechanic service, a gym, and specific changing rooms.
On the estate overlooking Sardana street, a full spa will be set up with an indoor pool and an outdoor jacuzzi. The dining options will include a restaurant with an open kitchen for 111 diners, a casual bar on the ground floor, and a rooftop bar on the upper terrace, also overlooking the lake.
The proposal adds a second dining room on the minus one floor for conferences or events, along with a wine cellar with a tasting room, multipurpose spaces, and a library. The complex will also reserve 40 parking spaces and will seek LEED Gold environmental certification.
