A fire declared this Thursday in the ground floor of a building of the Grup del Pont Major, in the Pont Major neighborhood of Girona, has forced the preventive evacuation of all the residents of the block.

Deployment of Firefighters and Mossos in Pont Major

The notice was received around 1145 hours. Six units of the Bombers and four patrols of the Mossos d'Esquadra quickly moved to the scene. The fire originated in a dwelling located on the ground floor. All residents of the building have been evacuated while emergency teams worked to extinguish the flames and prevent the spread of smoke.

Fire Control and Victim Search

Once the fire was controlled, the Firefighters carried out a search inside the affected apartment and in the rest of the building. No victims were found inside. According to initial information, the man and the girl linked to the residence were outside at the time of the events, which facilitated the intervention of the emergency services.

Material damage and return of residents

The fire has left one room completely burnt out and the rest of the dwelling with significant smoke damage. The smoke has spread to the upper floors through the ducts, causing damage to other dwellings. Around 12:30 PM, the fire was declared stabilized and ventilation tasks have begun.

After reviewing the rest of the apartments and confirming that there were no serious damages, the residents have been able to return to their homes except for the occupants of the affected apartment, whose home has been severely damaged. The incident has ended without injuries.
