4,408 aspirants for 1,100 places: this is how the teaching future is decided in Catalonia

The Department of Education and Vocational Training has held this Saturday the ordinary competitive examinations in 23 municipalities of Catalonia to cover a total of 1,100 teaching positions in ESO, baccalaureate and Vocational Training. The process has mobilized 4,408 admitted applicants who have attended the 64 tribunals distributed in different localities.

Distribution of courts and municipalities involved

The exams have been held in key locations such as Barcelona, Girona, Tarragona, Lleida, Reus, Vic, and Sabadell. Municipalities such as Castell d"Aro, Platja d"Aro and s"Agaró, Olot, Ripoll, l"Hospitalet de Llobregat, Cardedeu, Cambrils, Hostalric, Martorell, l"Ametlla de Mar, and Rubí, among others, have also hosted tests. The organization has required significant logistical coordination to guarantee the access and safety of participants at each venue.

Specialties and places offered

The majority of the positions, 1.033, correspond to the body of secondary school teachers. Among the specialties with the highest number of vacancies stand out mathematics with 182 positions, Catalan language and literature with 147, Castilian language and literature with 114, physics and chemistry with 70, health and care procedures with 70, English with 63, computer science with 70 and vocational training and guidance with 50.

For the first time in teaching competitive examinations in Catalonia, qualifications in children's and youth leisure education, both as a monitor and as a director of leisure activities, have been recognized as merits. This novelty affects the scoring scales and opens new possibilities for candidates with experience in this field.
