The fifth edition of the Lumlab Festival kicked off on Friday in Sant Feliu de Guíxols with an aerial show of about 200 drones in the bay and a dozen artistic installations spread across different points of the municipality. The light exhibition opened part of its program at 6:00 p.m. and reserved the inaugural event by the sea for 9:00 p.m.

The start of the drone show was delayed by about ten minutes. Afterwards, the devices, organized in three rows and taking off from the pier, traced marine figures in blue tones in the sky. Among them appeared a whale, jellyfish, a manta ray and a sunfish, in a proposal signed by Flock Drone Art Studio, which inaugurates Lumlab for the third consecutive year.

During the exhibition, fifteen boats from the entity Llop de Mar paraded through the port while the play of lights was reflected on the water of the bay.

El Racó de Garbí recovers one of the pieces of the first edition

At the end of the inaugural show, two of the most visible outdoor installations of this edition were lit in Racó de Garbí. On the one hand, Llum de Saló, by Un Parell d'Arquitectes, recovered from the first edition of the festival. On the other hand, the installation of the 111 streetlights by the Olot-born architect Xevi Bayona, also located in this same space.

La Rambla hosts Crystalis, a work by Calidos, while the courtyard of the Escola de Música has become the stage for Beats, beats, beats, heart beats, of the Encén Montilivi UdG Festival.

Interior installations between the Theater and the Monastery

Among the proposals that could be visited from 6:00 p.m. are those of the Teatre and the Refectori del Monestir. The former houses Balisa Mòbil, by Josep Poblet, formed by a set of mobiles with lights.

In the Refectory of the Monastery, the Playmodes studio presents Espills, a dynamic sculpture built with laser beams and robotic mirrors and inspired by crystalline formations. In the same monumental enclosure, the Arch of Sant Benet of the Monastery incorporates a lighting installation by Flock Drone Art Studio, which debuts at the festival with this fixed work.

The programming is completed with Clandestine Bodies, installed by the Mascanada6 association in the old carrer dels Enamorats, and with Aurelius, by Nine Eyes, an itinerant proposal included in this fifth edition.

Participation of the schools of the municipality

The Espai Àgora of the Monastery brings together one of the initiatives with the most local involvement. There, the schools of Sant Feliu participate with the construction of about 200 cut-out lighthouses to scale of the emblematic lighthouse of the municipality, integrated into the festival's route.

With this opening, Lumlab once again deploys its circuit of indoor and outdoor installations in various enclaves of the center of Sant Feliu de Guíxols, from the bay and the port to the Rambla, the Monestir and the Racó de Garbí, in an edition that consolidates the municipality's commitment to the art of light.
