Jonathan Andic, son of Mango's founder, Isak Andic, was arrested this Tuesday accused of his father's death due to the fall he suffered in December 2024 in the Salnitre caves, in Collbató. After appearing before the courts of Martorell, he was released on provisional bail after paying one million euros before five in the afternoon.
The judicial resolution maintains that the accidental hypothesis loses strength through two avenues at once. The magistrate considers a fortuitous fall practically ruled out due to the body's injuries and the evidence gathered by the Mossos d'Esquadra, while placing the economic conflict between father and son at the center of the case.
The judge links the shift in the relationship to the change in the will
The investigation places the deterioration of the relationship in 2015, when Isak Andic left the company, gave more responsibility to his son, and later decided to return. The analysis of WhatsApp conversations between them questions Jonathan Andic's version of a good relationship and records that he requested an inheritance during his father's lifetime.
The magistrate also points to an obsession with money by the investigated party. In her statement, she adds that the founder of Mango accepted this request to maintain the bond with his son.
In mid-2024, Jonathan Andic learned that his father intended to modify his will to leave the inheritance to a social foundation. The judge places a notable change in his attitude at that point and frames his attempt at reconciliation within that moment.
According to that same resolution, the son proposed an excursion through Montserrat to speak alone with his father. Isak Andic accepted the outing as an attempt to mend the relationship.
The Mossos detected contradictions about the fall and the use of the mobile phone
The events occurred during a solo excursion in December 2024, when Isak Andic fell down a ravine in Collbató. The judge notes contradictions in Jonathan Andic's statements to the Mossos on December 14 and 31, and also in judicial proceedings.
These differences affect his exact location at the time of the events and the use of his father's mobile phone. The autopsy confirmed that the device was only used at the beginning of the excursion, as the body was found with the mobile phone in his pocket.
He also changed his account of the emergency calls. He first said that he thought his father had fallen down a ravine and later stated that he was moving forward, heard a noise of stones, turned around, and saw him scream and fall.
Before the Mossos, however, he declared another sequence. He stated that he was walking in front of his father and that he saw a body rolling among the bushes, after which he heard a loud bang and a cry of pain.
The court values previous visits to the excursion site
Another element that the case includes are Jonathan Andic's previous trips to Montserrat. The investigation has established that he went to the same area three times before the excursion with his father.
Traffic control systems place his car on those routes. The low-emission plates registered entries and exits from Barcelona on December 7, 8, and 10, and traffic surveillance cameras in Collbató located him there on those same dates.
The magistrate also incorporates the disappearance of a mobile phone belonging to the investigated person. Jonathan Andic changed his phone on March 25, 2025, and deleted the content of the previous one, after telling his secretary that it had been stolen from him in Ecuador during a lightning trip.
After agreeing to provisional release, the judge imposed several precautionary measures. Jonathan Andic must hand over his passport, cannot leave the territory, and must appear in court every week.
