Tot per Terrassa has demanded this Tuesday the immediate withdrawal of the employment regulation file presented by FICOSA at its Viladecavalls plant. The municipal group demands an industrial plan that offers real guarantees to preserve jobs in Vallès.
The initiative directly affects 172 factory workers, which represents 21 percent of the total workforce. The majority of these employees reside in Terrassa, which makes the situation a top priority for the city's social cohesion.
The company's numbers do not justify the dismissal
Jordi Ballart, mayor of Terrassa and leader of the party, maintains that the company's financial situation does not justify such a drastic measure. The economic data show a corporate health far from the crisis that management alleges to cut staff.
FICOSA closed the 2024 fiscal year with record revenue exceeding 1.397 billion euros. Furthermore, forecasts for 2025 point to an increase in results, which contradicts the need to destroy jobs as argued by the territorialist councilors.

The municipal group criticizes the multinational's lack of strategic vision. They accuse the management of not having promoted diversification or reindustrialization processes that would have guaranteed long-term job stability in the automotive sector.
Labor Alternatives and Institutional Mediation
Far from accepting the ERO, Tot per Terrassa proposes alternative ways to adjust the structure without resorting to collective dismissal. They propose measures such as the internal relocation of those affected, training and professional requalification plans, or the offer of partial and early retirements.
They also study other agreed-upon internal flexibility mechanisms that allow adapting the workforce to demand without breaking the employment relationship. These options require negotiating will on the part of the company and institutional support.
To move these proposals forward, the group will present a proposal for an agreement at the next City Council Spokespersons' Meeting. The text seeks to garner political support to demand the active involvement of the Department of Business and Labor of the Generalitat.
The Catalan administration should act as a mediator in the negotiation to defend industrial employment and the productive future of the territory. The training contextualizes this conflict within a worrying trend of loss of industrial capacity in Catalonia.
