The Reempresa initiative has exceeded 16,000 safeguarded jobs in Catalonia and reaches 16,054 preserved jobs since its launch in 2011. The program, promoted by Cecot and Autoocupació with the support of the Departament d"Empresa i Treball of the Generalitat, has facilitated the transfer of 5,676 companies until April.

The accumulated balance places at 304 million euros the induced investment linked to these operations. In parallel, the service has attended 12,511 companies in the process of transfer or sale and has advised 22,546 re-entrepreneurial projects.

Commerce concentrates the largest volume of transmissions

By sectors, commerce leads business transfers with 32% of the total. Next appear services and hospitality, both with 30%. Industry represents 6% of the transfers and construction, 2%.

The distribution confirms the weight of small businesses and activities linked to daily consumption, which continue to concentrate a good part of the business successions managed within the program.

Industry leads the average price of operations

The highest average price is registered in industry, with 183,000 euros. Construction and renovations occupies the second position with 138,000 euros, while the agricultural sector stands at 102,000 euros.

In services, the average amount of transfers amounts to 62,000 euros. In hospitality and in commerce, the average price is 40,000 euros in both cases, a figure significantly lower than that of the sectors with operations of greater economic volume.

Male predominance in sellers and buyers

In the profile of transferors or sellers, men are the majority with 54%. By age, those over 60 years old predominate, representing 39%, followed by the 50 to 60 year old age group, with 29%.

Among re-entrepreneurs or buyers there is also a male majority, with 60%. By age groups, the most numerous groups are those from 40 to 50 years and from 50 to 60 years, both with 32%.

The data thus reflect a model of business succession sustained over time, with special incidence in proximity sectors and with a prominent role of those who opt to continue businesses already in operation as a way to maintain economic activity and employment.
