The National Police has expelled 21 irregular foreign citizens who operated mainly in Barcelona and its metropolitan area. The operation, executed by the General Commissariat of Foreigners and Borders, has made it possible to remove individuals with an extensive criminal record from the territory.
Serious background
The expelled individuals had more than 170 police records for property crimes. The registered offenses included burglaries with force or violence, thefts, crimes against public health, illegal detentions, and attempted homicides.
The measures have been taken after verifying the identity and background of each individual during the checks carried out.
Seven of the expelled individuals have a record for domestic abuse and another for sexual assault. Some of these individuals were housed at the Immigrant Detention Center in Barcelona until the resolution of the procedure.
Police deployment
Agents from the National Police from the Cornellà de Llobregat and Manresa police stations, as well as agents from the autonomous police, have participated in the operation. Expulsion decrees from the Government Sub-delegation and an expulsion order from the judicial authority have been carried out.
The agents requested authorization from all the courts in which these individuals had pending cases. The Central Unit for Repatriations was the body responsible for executing the final repatriations.
