The Criminal Investigation Brigade of the Mossos d'Esquadra has dismantled a criminal structure responsible for multiple shootings and violent acts in Sant Adrià de Besòs. The operation puts an end to a spiral of confrontations between two gangs with roots in the municipality that has extended from 2024 to 2026.
The police device was activated after the serious incidents that occurred on April 3. That day, agents of the regional police went to the area to quell an armed confrontation that left 16 spent shell casings scattered on the public road as material evidence of the intensity of the exchange of fire.
Searches seize five firearms
Subsequent investigations made it possible to identify the members of the groups involved. Investigators coordinated several entries and searches in strategic residences to neutralize the organization's operational capacity. During these proceedings, agents seized the arsenal they used to intimidate rivals and disturb public order.
The seizure includes three long firearms of the shotgun type and a handgun. In addition, the officers located projectiles, cartridges of various calibers suitable for use in the seized weapons, and several bladed weapons. This material is now under judicial custody as evidence of the imputed crimes.
The possession of this weaponry now weighs on those investigated along with other serious accusations. The judicial authority attributes to them the commission of crimes of assault against agents of the authority for their resistance during the events. Charges for threats and public disorder derived from their actions in the street also feature.
Five detainees are brought before the court
The Mossos d'Esquadra have proceeded to the arrest of five individuals directly linked to the plot. The arrested individuals were transferred to police facilities to complete the necessary proceedings before their appearance before the judge. The rapid action prevented them from disposing of more evidence or reorganizing.
This Thursday the detainees were brought before the court. The magistrate will have to decide on the precautionary measures applicable to each of them based on their degree of participation in the investigated events. Catalan justice thus takes over in the procedural phase of this case.
The police intervention has managed to break the dynamic of violent escalation that these two criminal groups maintained. Investigators highlight that the dismantling of the network has significantly reduced the risk for the population residing in Sant Adrià de Besòs. Calm has returned to streets that had been a usual scene of armed confrontation during the last two years.
