The Mossos d'Esquadra and the Guàrdia Urbana have arrested in Barcelona two men aged 39 and 45 for an alleged drug trafficking crime in the districts of Eixample and Sants Montjuïc. The investigation places them as alleged distributors of substances for sexual encounters, a practice known as chemsex.
The arrests were made on April 16 and both were brought before the court on Saturday 18. One of the detainees accumulated 15 records for drug trafficking, always according to police information.
An investigation open since May
The investigation started in May, following the arrest of a man who was found with narcotic substances. From that point, investigators focused their inquiries on two suspects who allegedly were dedicated to the distribution of drugs in different parts of the city.
The police maintain that both used tourist or temporary apartments, with stays of a maximum of three or four days, to hinder their location and the monitoring of the activity. That system allowed them to frequently change location and reduce the trace of their movements.
Entries in homes of the Eixample
During the operation, agents carried out entries into two homes and a storage room in Eixample. In these searches, they seized a large quantity of substances, in addition to material allegedly linked to the preparation and distribution of the drug.

- 213 grams of mephedrone
- 250 grams of methamphetamine
- More than 17 grams of MDMA
- More than 90 ecstasy pills
- More than 23 grams of cocaine
- 346 grams of crystal
- Four liters of GHB
- 19 bottles of popper
- Nine doses of LSD
In addition, the police forces located precision scales, utensils for the manipulation and dosage of substances and 27,825 euros in cash.
Joint action in two districts
The operation was carried out jointly between Mossos d'Esquadra and Guàrdia Urbana, with interventions in Eixample and Sants Montjuïc. The case now remains in the hands of the judicial authority, while the investigation has allowed the dismantling of a distribution point that allegedly operated with continuous changes of accommodation to avoid being detected.
