The Bombers de la Generalitat worked this Tuesday, May 26, on two fires declared less than 40 minutes apart in Terra Alta, one in Batea and another in Corbera d'Ebre. Both fires were detected at noon and required the mobilization of ground and air resources in both municipalities.
The temporal coincidence contrasts with the evolution of each fire. While the Corbera d'Ebre fire, with more deployed crews, was controlled in just over an hour, the Batea fire remained active throughout the afternoon in a pine area surrounded by agricultural mosaic.
The Batea fire required three crews to remain in the afternoon
The first alert arrived at 12:18 PM in Batea. There, six crews from Bombers de la Generalitat, including an air unit, acted on a forest vegetation fire declared in a pine area.
The affected environment was surrounded by agricultural mosaic, an element that marked the initial deployment on the ground. After 5:00 PM, the fire was controlled and three crews remained in the area for mopping-up operations.
Corbera d'Ebre mobilized 14 crews and the fire was extinguished the same afternoon
At 12:57 PM, the second fire was declared in Corbera d'Ebre. The fire affected an uncultivated field and mobilized 14 crews from Bombers de la Generalitat, three of them aerial.
In this case, the evolution was faster. Around 2:15 PM, the teams declared the fire controlled.
Three hours later, the Corbera d'Ebre fire was extinguished after the intervention of the 14 mobilized crews, including three air units.
