A dense white smoke has alerted this afternoon residents of Tortosa due to a vegetation fire on Pere d'Alberni street, in the Ferreries neighborhood, next to the Ebre river. The fire has mobilized two units of Bombers shortly before 7:00 PM this Monday.
The flames have affected a small area with trees, reeds and bushes located on the other side of the homes and the vehicles parked on the street. The column of smoke could be seen from different points of the city, which has generated expectation among the residents.
Fire of small extent in Ferreries
The fire affects an area of a few square meters. The proximity of the Ebre and the rapid intervention of the Bombers have facilitated the containment of the fire in this strip of vegetation.
The fire has been controlled and no damage is recorded to nearby houses nor to the cars parked in the area. Nor is there danger for the residents of this street, despite the visibility of the smoke during the first moments.
Without risk for the urban environment
The incident has concentrated on the margin of vegetation next to the river, in an area separated from the front of homes. There is no risk for the residents nor for the vehicles parked in the immediate vicinity, while the deployed personnel finish securing the affected perimeter.
The situation has remained under control late in the afternoon, after a rapid action in a very visible spot of Ferreries but with a limited affectation.
