The Associació Protectora d'Animals i Plantes de Tarragona held the II March Against Animal Abandonment in the city, an event that toured the Port area, starting at Tinglado 1, passing through the Fortí de la Reina, and returning to the starting point.
The march was held under the slogan With him. Not without him. and focused on a contradiction that the entity wanted to highlight. While it called for responsible adoptions and long-term commitment, it presented several cases of dogs rescued after being left behind by their families or found in abandonment circumstances.

During the event, the animal shelter presented stories of recovered animals, including Tomy, Fina, Fred, Jetli, Chan, Pimiento, and Pepinillo. It also shared the case of puppies found walled up in the Renfe Railway Cultural Club.
The program included a presentation of dogs available for adoption and several solidarity activities. Among the animals the entity showcased was Larry, a one-and-a-half-year-old Belgian Shepherd found last year in the Francolí River.
In that same space, the organization disseminated other recent cases of animal abandonment in Tarragona, a line of work that had already appeared in rescues of abandoned cats in the city.

One of the cases presented was that of Simba, a three-year-old dog who, according to the entity, was abandoned by his family due to his size. The animal shelter described him as an affectionate, cheerful, and loyal animal who likes water and travels well in cars.

Based on examples like Simba's and Larry's, the animal shelter insisted that adoption requires assuming care and respect for many years. That message was also linked to the need to stop abandonment and find homes for dogs waiting for a new family, as is the case with dogs seeking adoption in the Tarragona area.
