A fire in the kitchen of the restaurant Lunattic, in the Els Acantilats area of Llevant beach in Salou, mobilized six units of Bombers de la Generalitat on Thursday, May 14. The alert was received by 112 at 5:30 p.m. and forced the evacuation of both staff and customers of the establishment as a precaution.
The intervention prevented major damage to a six-story building. Although there was an initial risk of spread and toxic smoke accumulation, the flames did not spread beyond the kitchen, and the ventilation of the stairwell and the establishment made it unnecessary to confine the residents.
Bombers controlled the fire in less than 30 minutes
The fire was controlled and extinguished within minutes of the arrival of the emergency teams. The deployed units focused their efforts on containing the fire within the kitchen, where the incident originated.
The action allowed the restaurant on Llevant beach to be evacuated without the fire spreading to other areas. During the intervention, Bombers also assessed the risk in the building located above the premises.
Ventilation prevented the confinement of the six-story block
In parallel to the extinguishing efforts, the personnel ventilated the communal stairwell and the restaurant itself to reduce the presence of smoke. This work was crucial in ruling out the confinement of the building's residents.
After declaring the fire under control, the operation remained pending to complete the dissipation of smoke and check for any hot spots before definitively closing the service.
