Tarragona will be the historic starting point of the second stage of the Tour de France. The race will travel along the Costa Dorada from Altafulla to Cunit on July 5.
The involved municipalities have activated a roadmap full of prior events to warm up the engines. Thousands of people are expected to attend the towns through which the race will pass, according to official estimates.

Altafulla exhibits the official trophy
The San Jorge Municipal Pavilion in Altafulla houses from today the commemorative trophy of the Gallic tour. Neighbors will be able to contemplate the precious piece until Thursday during usual hours.
The town also prepares a Popular Bicycle Ride for May 10. Registrations open at 10 a.m. for a 17.5-kilometer route with departure and arrival at the Municipal Sports Zone.
Roda de Berà themes its shop windows
Roda de Berà organizes the Roda de Berà Pedals for the Tour bike ride on May 16 at 10 a.m. The municipality will exhibit the Tour de France trophy at the Town Hall from June 16 to 18.
A children's circuit for bicycles and scooters is planned for June 20. The downtown businesses will join the celebration by theming their shop windows during the last week of June and the first week of July.
The Arc de Berà will display a 10x2 meter banner with the name of the municipality. On July 5th, there will be a joint bike ride in Roda de Berà to the N-340 to watch the peloton pass.
Cunit programs festivals and cycling
The Tour trophy will arrive in Cunit this weekend of May 9 and 10. The Municipal Pavilion Los Joncs will be the venue for this traveling exhibition.
The Tour Festival will take place on May 16 thanks to the Delmacio de Conito Study Group and the Cycling Club. The day will include an exhibition of bicycles from the years 76 and 77 alongside historic jerseys.
A bike ride is planned for May 31 in the town. On June 21, the Master Cycling Tour de France and a Sports Festival will be held in the parking lot of the Pompeu Fabra School.
El Vendrell prepares gatherings
El Vendrell has begun to place yellow banners in the areas where the Tour is expected to pass. The City Council, together with the El Vendrell Cycling Group, is planning a gathering of cyclists pedaling statically near the human towers monument.
Creixell prepares a family bike ride for July 4th. The council is working on finalizing a concert for that same afternoon.
Calafell will celebrate a festival alongside the fishermen's guild with shows and music themed around the Tour. The specific date of this event is pending confirmation.
