The railway circulation of the Regional R 13 line will be interrupted between La Plana Picamoixons and Roda de Berà from May 4 to July 6 due to maintenance works promoted by Adif in this section. The affectation will reach both passenger trains and freight convoys.

Emergency works in four tunnels

The planned action consists of emergency repair work in four tunnels, with interventions on the railway platform, the tracks and the electrification system. The internal work order from the infrastructure administrator that activates this intervention was signed last April 15.

During the period of works, trains will not be able to circulate through this sector of the R 13, one of the usual connections between Camp de Tarragona and the interior of Lleida. The interruption will force to reorganize all railway mobility in this corridor while the repairs are carried out.

Renfe must activate an alternative plan

Given the cut, Renfe will have to design a Pla d"Alternatives de Transport to cover the demand of the affected travelers. That arrangement will have to absorb mobility in the suspended section while Adif's intervention lasts.

The incident will not affect the R 14 line, which runs along the Reus track and will maintain its service without changes due to this specific action. That will be the only regional line in the area that will remain outside of this programmed interruption.

Coincidence with the works of Garraf

The cut on the R 13 will also coincide with the works in the Túnels del Garraf, which force to make by road the journey between Sant Vicenç de Calders and El Prat. The coincidence of both actions will concentrate a good part of the railway alterations of this period in the Catalan network, especially in the displacements that cross the Camp de Tarragona and the connections towards Barcelona.

With this scenario, the coming weeks will be marked by a double impact on relevant railway corridors, awaiting the concretization of the alternative arrangement for the users of the R 13 during the two months of planned interruption.
