The Institut Català del Sòl has confirmed this Friday the purchase of 1,094 homes owned by InmoCaixa for 89.9 million euros, in an operation approved by its board of directors and distributed in 14 municipalities in Catalonia.

The acquisition expands by 30 apartments the operation that the Generalitat de Catalunya had announced at the end of 2025, a limited increase compared to the objective of rapidly increasing public housing stock. The agreement also incorporates 1,014 parking spaces and 239 storage rooms.

The operation adds 186 homes in Barcelona and six in Tarragona

Barcelona concentrates 186 of the homes included in the purchase, while Tarragona adds six. The package also incorporates properties in Sitges, Sant Just Desvern, and L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, as well as other unspecified municipalities within a total distribution of 14 locations.

The Generalitat frames the acquisition within its strategy to reinforce the public housing supply throughout Catalonia. With this formula, Incasòl adds more than a thousand apartments to the public stock at once.

Sílvia Paneque, Minister of Territory, Housing, and Ecological Transition, defended that these acquisitions allow for a rapid increase in the public housing stock and pointed out that the purchase represents "a new step" within the Plan 50,000 promoted by the Government.

Along with the homes, the agreement includes 1,014 parking spaces and 239 storage rooms. The entire package is distributed across 14 municipalities, expanding the territorial reach of the operation beyond Barcelona, Tarragona, Sitges, Sant Just Desvern, and L'Hospitalet de Llobregat.

The board of directors that gave the green light to the purchase also introduced two new independent members. They are architects Marc Riera Guix and Maria Rubert de Ventós.

The final figure of the operation amounts to 89.9 million euros for 1,094 homes, after incorporating 30 more compared to the announcement made by the Generalitat de Catalunya at the end of 2025.
