The Mossos d'Esquadra arrested four men, aged between 21 and 56, on Thursday in La Riera de Gaià for an alleged robbery with force at an isolated farmhouse on Camí de Tarragona. The operation was carried out around 9:20 p.m., after a report of a robbery at the residence.

The intervention ended with the four suspects arrested as they attempted to flee, but officers had already located two vans with their doors open and loaded with tools next to the property. Inside and around the house, moreover, there was material prepared to be taken, including copper, radiators, and other metal elements.

Officers located two loaded vans next to the farmhouse

The operation was coordinated between the Citizen Security Unit of the Tarragona police station and the Municipal Police of El Catllar. It was the latter who located the two vehicles in the area of the farmhouse, located in the municipality of La Riera de Gaià.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers surrounded the house and intercepted the four men, who tried to escape. During the inspection, they found that a window was broken and the main door had been forced open.

Within the operation, the police also verified that the suspects had a batch of items ready for theft. Among that material were copper, radiators, other metals, a crowbar, and various tools.

The arrested individuals had over 70 previous police records

The case brings together in a single operation the initial report, the location of the vehicles, and the arrest of the alleged perpetrators outside the residence. In the Camp de Tarragona area, other recent operations for robberies in houses in Altafulla have followed a pattern of rapid on-site response.

In addition to the forced entry into the farmhouse, the criminal history of the detainees adds police weight to the operation. The four men had accumulated more than 70 previous police records.

The arrested individuals were brought before the duty investigating court of El Vendrell on Saturday.
