The Generalitat Firefighters worked this Thursday on three vegetation fires in the Camp de Tarragona, two of them declared within ten minutes of each other in the municipalities of Reus and Rodonyà, and a third one again in the latter municipality in the late afternoon/evening.
The coincidence of alerts in such a short time also continued in Rodonyà, where, once the second fire was declared extinguished, a new alert for smoke came in another area of the same municipality. The extinguishing services had to act in a scrubland next to the C-14 and in two different points of Alt Camp.
The Reus fire was extinguished at 6:00 PM after starting next to the C-14
The first fire started at 3:30 PM in a scrubland located near the C-14 road, between Reus and La Selva del Camp.
Two crews from the Reus station responded, and they stabilized the incident at 4:18 PM. Later, the firefighters declared the fire extinguished at 6:00 PM.
Rodonyà registered two fires in one afternoon and the second alert arrived at 8:11 PM
Minutes after the Reus alert, a second fire broke out on the Dels Garrofers road, between Masllorenç and Rodonyà, in a cultivated field with scrubland.
Four crews from the Valls, El Vendrell, and Montblanc stations worked at that location. The personnel anchored the head of the fire at 4:26 PM and controlled it at 5:37 PM.
The terrain configuration helped to slow the spread. Specifically, the presence of vineyards and wetlands contained the advance of the flames in that area located between Masllorenç and Rodonyà.
Later that night, and after that fire was declared extinguished, a third fire forced the mobilization of resources again in Rodonyà. The alert was received at 8:11 PM for smoke in a wooded area.
The Generalitat Firefighters deployed another four crews along the Camí Ral towards a fire located among vineyards, near the Còdol stream and south of the L'Alzineta urbanization.
