The Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested Jonathan Andic this Tuesday to testify as an investigated person before the judge of Martorell for the death of his father, Isak Andic, founder of Mango, who died on December 14, 2024, in Collbató after falling off a cliff in the Montserrat massif.
The case had been provisionally shelved in January 2025, but the court reopened it two months later and, after more than a year of investigation, the investigation has ended up placing the businessman's eldest son at the center of doubts about an excursion that was initially presented as an accident.
The judge reopened the case after the provisional dismissal of January 2025
Jonathan Andic will appear in the coming hours before Court of Instruction number 5 of Martorell, which has been directing the proceedings since December 2024. The arrest occurred just as the last extension of the investigation agreed upon by the judge was about to expire.
Isak Andic died after falling about 150 meters during an excursion with his eldest son to the saltpeter caves of Collbató, in the Montserrat area. The judicial investigation was provisionally shelved in January 2025, although the court reopened it two months later to incorporate extensions of police reports and new statements from family members and acquaintances.
Since that reopening, the Mossos d'Esquadra have focused their efforts on Jonathan Andic. In September, they requested his mobile phone to analyze call and message logs and to try to recover files deleted months earlier.
The Mossos detected inconsistencies regarding the fall, the parking, and the photos
Investigators noted inconsistencies between Jonathan Andic's two statements about his location at the time of the fall, the place where he had parked, and the taking of photographs during the outing. They also added the police conclusion that it is difficult for the body to have fallen without some force being applied to it.
Another line of inquiry analyzed by the Mossos d'Esquadra suggests that Jonathan Andic asked his father's usual bodyguard to leave them alone before starting the excursion, with the argument that he wanted to speak with him in private. This detail is part of the proceedings incorporated into the case.
The investigation has also examined a possible bad relationship between father and son. That hypothesis has been denied by several family members and people close to the company, including his daughters Judith and Sarah, a paternal uncle, and executives and workers of Mango.
A family spokesperson has stated that Jonathan Andic's collaboration with the authorities "has been and will be maximum." The same spokesperson added that the detainee is already testifying, although no further details were given due to the secrecy of the investigation.
The judge of Martorell has been investigating the case since December 2024 and Jonathan Andic will testify before Court of Instruction number 5 in the coming hours as a suspect in the death of Isak Andic.
