The Mossos d'Esquadra arrested a 45-year-old man in the early hours of Saturday to Sunday on the road connecting Torredembarra with La Riera de Gaià, accused of a presumed crime against the sexual freedom of a minor under 16 years of age and of a possible crime of incitement to the prostitution of minors.
The investigation focuses on events in which there is no evidence of violence and in which, according to initial police checks, the minor would have gotten into the car voluntarily. The agents are now trying to clarify whether sexual acts occurred inside the vehicle and what link the detainee had with a possible recruitment of the minor.
The patrol intercepted the car between Torredembarra and La Riera de Gaià
The police action took place on that road during the early morning, when a patrol located the vehicle in which the driver and the minor were traveling. Following that intervention, the Mossos d'Esquadra arrested the man.
The arrested has 45 years.
The case is being investigated under two possible distinct crimes. On the one hand, a presumed crime against the sexual freedom of a minor under 16 years of age. On the other, a possible crime of incitement to prostitution of minors, a line that investigators are keeping open while they gather proceedings.
Agents investigate if there were sexual acts without violence
The research unit is working to determine what happened inside the car and if sexual acts actually occurred. It must also establish whether those acts occurred without violence, a point that is part of the investigations opened by the Mossos d'Esquadra.
The minor is 16 years old.
The circumstance that the minor had accessed the vehicle voluntarily does not rule out any of the police hypotheses. The investigation remains focused on the eventual commission of crimes against a minor and on the possible relationship of the detainee with the incitement to prostitution of minors.
While those proceedings advance, the man remains in the police facilities of Tarragona awaiting the next judicial procedures. Police sources indicate that he could be brought before the court in the coming hours in the courts of El Vendrell.
