The Minister of the Interior and Public Security, Núria Parlon, and the Director General of the Mossos d'Esquadra, Josep Lluís Trapero, will appear this Wednesday starting at 4:30 p.m. in the Interior and Public Security Commission of the Parliament to give explanations about the infiltration of agents in assemblies of teachers.

The meeting comes on the same day that the first day of teacher protests in Catalonia has begun and after the identification of two Mossos d'Esquadra agents infiltrated in a teachers' assembly in a high school in Ciutat Vella became known. Political and union tension has thus moved to the Parliament while unions are considering going to court.

ERC, Junts and En Comú Podem forced the appearance in Parliament

ERC, En Comú Podem and Junts per Catalunya requested the presence of Parlon and Trapero in the Catalan chamber to clarify police action. In the same request, they also demanded the appearance of the Minister of Education and Vocational Training, Esther Niubó.

The focus of the session will be on the case detected in Ciutat Vella, where two agents were identified infiltrated in an assembly of teachers held in a high school in the Barcelona district.

The appearance will begin at 4:30 PM in the Interior and Public Security Commission, with the added pressure of a conflict that no longer affects only the educational sphere, but also the debate on the limits of police action in union spaces.

USTEC and CGT study taking police infiltration to the courts

In parallel, the unions USTEC STES and CGT are considering taking legal action due to the presence of agents in those meetings. Both organizations consider that the infiltration violates the rights of assembly, strike, and trade union freedom of the teaching staff.

The dissemination of the parliamentary summons coincided with the start of the teachers' protests in Catalonia. That overlap of times has placed the case at the center of the union day and the Catalan political debate.

Esther Niubó, Minister of Education and Vocational Training, is also among the officials whose presence was demanded by ERC, En Comú Podem, and Junts per Catalunya due to the infiltration detected in an institute in Ciutat Vella.
