The Government ratified this Tuesday the purchase of 1,094 homes from InmoCaixa for approximately 90 million euros through the Institut Català del Sòl, in an operation that also incorporates 1,014 parking spaces and 239 storage rooms distributed in 14 municipalities in Catalonia.

The acquisition was announced in November and the Incasòl board of directors initially approved it on May 14. The most relevant data for the local scale is the dispersion of the package, with apartments in cities such as Barcelona, L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Tarragona, Lleida, or Terrassa and with very unequal distributions among municipalities.

The purchase concentrates 192 apartments in Sitges and 186 in Barcelona

The largest volume of homes is located in Sitges, with 192, and in Barcelona, with 186. Next are Sant Just Desvern, with 120, L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, with 112, and Sentmenat, with 111.

The lot also includes 84 homes in Cornellà de Llobregat, 78 in Terrassa, 68 in Mataró, 49 in Lleida, and 42 in Tordera. In a second tranche appear Montornès del Vallès, with 20, Olot, with 17, Sabadell, with nine, and Tarragona, with six.

Along with the homes, the operation adds 1,014 parking spaces and 239 storage rooms distributed in 14 municipalities, within the same transaction authorized by the Catalan Executive.

Incasòl approved the operation on May 14 after the November announcement

The Government's ratification validates the agreement previously adopted by the Incasòl board of directors on May 14. The stated objective of the operation is to expand the public housing stock with a single move on an already built package.

Barcelona, Cornellà de Llobregat, and L'Hospitalet de Llobregat concentrate a relevant part of the total in the metropolitan area. Outside of that area, the distribution reaches municipalities with very different profiles such as Sitges, Olot, Lleida, Tarragona, or Tordera.

The operation approved by the Generalitat de Catalunya amounts to approximately 90 million euros for the acquisition of 1,094 homes from InmoCaixa, after the announcement was made public in November.
