A 29-year-old driver was charged on Monday night with a crime against road safety after speeding past a patrol of the Mossos d'Esquadra's Trànsit area on the T-11, between Tarragona and Reus. The pursuit ended past kilometer five, at the turnoff towards the Misericòrdia road, the TV-3141.

The intervention started around 8 p.m., but the action did not end with a speeding ticket, but for a different reason. The officers found that the driver had never obtained a driver's license, while it is not known if a radar ever captured the infraction or if the car was already driving below the limit when it passed that point.

The Mossos intercepted the car on the TV-3141 detour

The vehicle overtook the patrol car on a stretch of the T-11 where the maximum permitted speed is 100 km/h. From there, the Mossos d'Esquadra initiated a pursuit that lasted until the exit towards the Misericòrdia road.

The pursuit ended after kilometer five. At that point, the officers identified the two occupants of the car and processed the indictment of the driver.

The driver had never obtained a license and the co-driver was released from sanction

During the intervention, the officers verified that the driver had never obtained a driving license. For that reason, he was charged with a crime against road safety.

The co-pilot, 31 years old, was not sanctioned for any infraction. Furthermore, the vehicle's search did not allow for the location of any illegal objects.

It remains unclear whether the speeding could be proven by radar on that 100 km/h stretch or if, when the car passed through the controlled area, it had already reduced speed before reaching the Misericòrdia road turn-off.
