The Generalitat Firefighters have declared the Capafonts forest fire, in Tarragona, controlled, declared this Sunday in a rugged area near Pont de Goi. The corps maintains the operation on the ground to complete the extinction and prevent the fire from becoming entrenched in ravines or hard-to-reach points.

The priority in this phase is to cool the ground and consolidate the work done during the first hours of the emergency, especially in an orography where any hot spot can easily reactivate.

The fire would have originated near Pont de Goi. From the first moment, the device focused on preventing the flames from advancing towards ravines or getting stuck in places of complicated access, a circumstance that usually prolongs extinction tasks.

Another active forest fire in Montargull

In parallel, the Firefighters are working on another forest fire in Montargull, in the Lleida demarcation. The alert for this second fire arrived at 10:24 hours and to the area have been deployed seven units, one of them aerial.

The fire affects the surroundings of the hermitage of Sant Jaume i Sant Marc de Fórnols. According to the Firefighters, the intensity of the fire is low and there is no wind in the area, conditions that favor perimeter control efforts.
