The Mossos d'Esquadra arrested Jonathan Andic this Tuesday, investigated for a presumed homicide offense in the death of his father, Isak Andic, founder of Mango. The arrest comes almost a year after the businessman's death in Montserrat, when he fell down a slope of about 100 meters near the Salnitre caves in Collbató.

The case had been provisionally shelved in January 2025 as an accidental death, but investigating court number 5 of Martorell reopened it in March due to new lines of investigation. The turn came later, when investigators noted contradictions between the son's account and his phone's geolocation, in a context of family tensions over the management of the textile group.

The investigation changed in October after reviewing the phone and autopsy

The proceedings took a turn in October 2025, when the investigation began to focus on a possible homicide. The Mossos cross-referenced geolocation data with the version offered by Jonathan Andic and detected inconsistencies that opened a new avenue in the case.

The autopsy report was added to this change of focus. The document concludes that no injuries compatible with an attempt to stop an accidental fall were found and points to the absence of instinctive protective or cushioning gestures on the hands and forearms.

Isak Andic died on December 14, 2024, in the area near the Salnitre caves, in Collbató, within the Montserrat massif. In the early stages of the investigation, the court treated the case as an accidental death and agreed to a provisional dismissal a month later.

The family remains silent due to the secrecy of the investigation

Police sources maintain that the indications of criminality are weak and consider the judicial declaration a key piece of the case. The investigators' intention is to contrast the version of the sole suspect in court.

Jonathan Andic was transferred this Tuesday to the Martorell courts to testify. The case remains under judicial secrecy, which limits official information about the ongoing proceedings.

"Jonathan Andic is testifying this Tuesday morning. We cannot add many more details because the case is under judicial secrecy. Cooperation with justice has been and will be maximum within the framework of these proceedings." - Authorized spokespersons for the Andic family

The reopening ordered by investigating court number 5 of Martorell occurred in March 2025, two months after the case had been provisionally shelved as a fortuitous accident.
